EQUINA continued with her dominance in local scene when she won the Champion Fillies horse race at Borrowdale racecourse on Sunday. The pre-race favourite, Equina, cruised to victory in the 1 800 metres race with jockey Quinton Riddle as the pilot. The Amy Bronkhorst trained won the race with 1, 5 lens ahead of stablemate Gentle Brook. Since making her first appearance a few years back, Equina has virtually won every race including some high profiles like the OK Grand Challenge and Castle Tankard.
The original line up of seven runners was reduced to five on Sunday after Tallie Two was considered unsuitable while Pretty Special was sold before the race.
That, however, did not take away the competitiveness of the race as the five-horse field hit the ground running upon being dispatched from the starting stalls at the 1 800-metre mark. — AFP.
