‘Ex beats me when she is drunk’

A Harare man told the court that his ex-wife beats and harasses him each she is drunk.

Promise Matengambiri opened up at the Harare Civil Court where he applied for a protection order against his ex-wife, Dephine Maumbe, citing physical abuse. During submissions, Promise told the court that Dephine was in the habit of drinking at a bar close to his workplace where she gets drunk then visits him and insults him.

“She gets drunk and comes to my workplace causing commotion and threatening to get me sacked.

“She has also been threatening to take her own life. She physically assaults me and as we speak l have a shaking tooth from one of her assaults,” said Promise.

Dephine did not appear in court to defend herself and the magistrate granted the application in default.
