The event, which has left most community dwellers in Nyamandlovu excited, is set to kick off this morning culminating in a music bash in the evening.
Artistes and villagers alike are excited ahead of the event tonight.
When Saturday Leisure visited the area on Thursday, the area was abuzz with activity and members of the community were looking forward to and were psyching up for the celebrations.
“We are very excited about our honourable minister’s bash and as the youth of Nyamandlovu we mobilised each other to help in any way possible.
“We have also managed to create awareness among other members of the Nyamandlovu community,” said William Sibanda, the community’s youth treasurer.
The mood at Nyamandlovu Centre was a jovial one as it was characterised by the battle of sounds from Jeys Marabini, Chase Skuza and Ndolwane Supersounds from the radio sets in the shops.
“Everyone around here is just talking about the big bash and we are happy that it is an event open to all, where some of our superstars are going to perform,” said a patron at Dwayi Bottle Store who was listening to the sounds of Ndolwane Super Sounds.
When Saturday Leisure visited Dr Mpofu’s homestead, the place was buzzing with activity as borehole drillers were working on the pipes, electricians setting up the transformer and other employees pitching up tents.
In an interview, the councillor of the area David Moyo, said the area was billed to play hot host to about 10 000 guests and 36 beasts are to be slaughtered to feed them.
“Everything is being finalised now and we are expecting approximately 10 000 guests and food is not an issue as 36 beasts are to be slaughtered,” he said
Roads around the area were being spruced up, as graders and trucks could be seen transporting quarry, while graders levelled the road surfaces.
The councillor also said that Minister Mpofu had done a lot to upgrade the living standards in Nyamandlovu.
“We are very grateful for everything the minister has done for us as we now have boreholes, electricity and the irrigation scheme he set up has provided many locals with employment.”
Nyamandlovu’s Chief Deli, Usher Mabhena, said he was going to be part of the celebrations and was looking forward to the bash.
“I got the invitation and I feel honoured to be part of the celebrations as we normally don’t have such huge gatherings.
“So far I have managed to communicate with residents from ward 14 and 16 so that they know about the bash and come in numbers for the celebrations,” said Chief Deli.
Musicians have promised not to let music lovers down as they promised to live up to their billing.
Jeys Marabini said he would be performing in Nyamandlovu for the first time and residents should look forward to an energetic show that will blow them away.
Apart from top musicians, local disc jockeys are also going to be part of the entertainment team which is a clear indication that everyone who will attend the bash will have fun.
Chase Skuza, Cool Crooners and Bob Nyabinde are billed to headline the event.
With the celebrations expected to start at 10 am today until tomorrow, people in Nyamandlovu are in for an all-night long bash.
