Fab Fusion spreading family love

What do you do if you are best friends with your husband and have a good relationship with your cool father in law? That’s easy, form a band! That is the case with the rising fusion group, Fab Fusion and the Ovation Band that comprise of lead vocalist Faith Ganyau, her husband and guitarist Brennan Wyngard, father in-law Nigel Wyngard amongst other members.

The family members who happen to be best buddies are spreading the love through music.

Fab Fusion and the Ovation Band was doing exactly that when they debuted at Harare International Festival of Arts this year.

“This was our first public performance together as a band as we usually perform at private and other small functions. Our music is a fusion of multiple genres,” said the talented Faith.

The group was in form when they performance at the Coca Cola Green stage on Tuesday.

The performance was followed up by a collaboration with Afro Fusion Japanese group Iyco and Kakafuraha band on Wednesday at the Lay’s Global Stage.

Together they performed a song “Zimbabwe” much to the amusement of the diverse crowd that graced the show.

Faith who was once a solo artiste before joining forces with her family said their coming together has strengthened the band.

She said Fab Fusion came about the collaboration of Fab Fusion (Faith, Marshal and Wilbert Domboka) and the Ovation Band.

“My father in-law was based in Bulawayo where he used to play with his band Ovation. Brennan was also part of the group that played blues and jazz music. Their coming aboard with keyboard player Tanaka Masocha and Joe Vas a lead Guitarist gave birth to Fab Fusion and the Ovation band,” she said.

She added that the old scholars play a pivotal role in managing and giving direction to the band based on their vast experience in the music business.

Speaking about the future, Faith said they had were forging partnerships with international artistes at the festival.

She said they were working on taking their music on an international stage. The band is currently riding on the success of their debut album “Embrace”
