Faith is our victory

1 JOHN 5:4-5 KJV
For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith. [5] Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
John says everything that is born of God overcomes the world. Birth gives entitlement to victory. When we are born, victory is automatic. But that victory is gained by faith. Faith is the force that gives victory to every born-again child of God. We overcome the world by faith if we are born of God. Faith is our victory. This means that where there is faith, there is victory. Faith is an overcomer. It overcomes the world.
John may never have mentioned the type of problem faith overcomes. He included everything when in the world. Faith overcomes the world. Everything that is not the Word of God, faith is designed to overcome that.
John included everything, for he said this: “The faith is the victory that overcomes the world,” the whole thing.
We have the written Word of God laying before us, and the Holy Spirit performing and showing the resurrection of the Lord Jesus, with the Divine promises written here, that: “Whatsoever thing you desire when you pray, believe that you receive it, and you shall have it.” What do you have to do then? Have faith, a real faith.
What John is saying is that faith is a conqueror. Faith is an overcomer. Faith is not a peace-maker. It overcomes.
“Faith is the victory that overcomes the world.” What does it do? It conquers.
To conquer is to prevail over, to subdue, like when the police subdue a criminal, handcuff and throw him into prison. It means that the sin or trouble that once ruled you, you rule it now. It means that you have overcome it. You have defeated it. You are greater than it is.
Faith can conquer the sickness. And faith is the victory that overcomes every curse of the devil. Faith is the victory.
Faith in what? Not faith in your church, not faith in your creed, not faith in some man. But, faith in Jesus Christ Who made the promise, that’s the victory.
What is it? It is the victory. But faith is the victory over your crippled arm.
But faith is the victory over sickness. It overcomes the world. Then faith overcomes death. Faith is the victory over death. Faith is the victory over sin. Faith is the victory over sickness. Faith is the victory over worry. Faith is the victory over frustrations. Faith is the victory over the world.
Hebrews 11 narrates what was overcome by the use of faith. Through faith we understand that the world was framed by the Word of God.
By faith Enoch pleased God.
Faith quenched the violence of fire in a burning furnace. It closed mouths of hungry lions. It raised the dead back to life. It gave barren women children. It put alien armies to flight. It made Moses to forsake Egypt and his parents to not fear the king’s commandment. It made Gideon and many others wax valiant in battle. It made the patriarchs to envision an unseen city, and they died without the promise, but embracing them, having seen them afar off.
Faith possesses. By faith Joseph refused to be buried in Egypt. The walls of Jericho fell by faith. Everything you can conceive of, is conquered by faith.
Joblessness, spiritual and physical problems are all conquered by faith.
Jesus said faith gets you whatsoever you desire. Mark 11:22-24 And Jesus answering saith unto them, Have faith in God. [23] For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith. [24] Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
Faith is unconscious. You have faith and you don’t even know it. When you tell your wife that you will return home after work, that is unconscious faith.
When you stretch your hand to greet someone, that is an act of faith. When you stand up from your chair, you do not think about if you will manage to stand. You just stand up almost by reflex. That is what faith is to a believer. You do not think if God will do it. You just act on unconscious faith. Don’t ever be negative in your testimony.
Faith overcomes the world.
