THE United Methodist Church (UMC) preacher and singer, Evangelist Norest Nyakudanga who died on Tuesday night, has been described by relatives and friends as a great spiritual leader.

Church members, friends and relatives converged in Zengeza, Chitungwiza yesterday to celebrate the life of one of the church’s heroes. Evangelist Nyakudanga, who died at the age of 65, is survived by a wife and three children.

Miss Praise Deketeke, niece to the deceased, said she was devastated.

“He embodied the three values that validate a man: being the family’s priest, guardian, and above all the source of income,” she said.

“We have lost a pillar of support, love, and guidance as a family”.

UMC Murehwa centre pastor in charge, Reverend Forbes Matonga, described Evangelist Nyakudanga as a passionate preacher and singer.

“I have known Mr Nyakudanga since our boyhood, when he was in Mutoko and I was in Murehwa as United Methodist Youth Fellowship (UMYF) in the early 80s, soon after the war,” he said.

“He was a person who loved God with everything in him, a very passionate preacher, a singer and always joyous.”
