A family of four is reportedly marooned by floods at Save/Runde river confluence in Mahenye area.

Chipinge rural district Ward 30 councillor, Mr Naison Ndlovu, confirmed the incident and said they are negotiating with local stakeholders to rescue the family.

“We received the report and we are currently looking for ways to help them out with the help of responsible stakeholders,” he said.

Last week the district civil protection unit in Chipinge warned villagers leaving near Save River to move to higher ground in the wake of incessant heavy rains that have caused flooding.

More details to follow.
