BEING a star isn’t all glitz and glamour—sometimes it’s a total nightmare!
Bulawayo’s rising digital king, Moses Ncube, known to his thousands of followers as Yung Steazy, found out the hard way that fame makes you a massive target for tsotsis.
The 19-year-old content creator was left “shook” after a “clever” conman used his celebrity status to rob him blind in daylight.
The drama went down on the corner of Fife Street and 9th Avenue on a Sunday afternoon. While Steazy was minding his business, a smooth-talking stranger approached him, grinning from ear to ear.

“He came up to me and said, ‘Yung Steazy, I am a fan!’ I thought it was just one of my followers,” the influencer told B-Metro.
The stranger spun a wild yarn about being in a rush to see a dentist. He pointed to a fancy car he claimed belonged to a big NGO and asked the young star to watch over it.
Then came the weird part.
The man told Steazy there was cash in the car.
He convinced the teen that for “security,” any money Steazy had on him should also be placed in an envelope and signed for.
Thinking he was helping a “fan,” the teen content creator handed over US$200.
But the “fan” was a fake!
The moment Steazy turned his back, the man—and the car—vanished into thin air. When the creator ripped open the envelope, his heart sank.
Instead of his hard-earned dollars, he found a pile of worthless, old Zimbabwean notes. We’re talking millions in paper that can’t even buy a loaf of bread!
“When I opened it, it was filled with old Zim dollars… useless. That’s when I realised something was not right,” a gutted Steazy said.
While his TikTok and Instagram accounts are blowing up, Steazy’s bank balance took a heavy hit.
The incident is a chilling reminder that criminals are now targeting young public figures who might be too trusting.
The young star’s advice to other celebs: “I’m still learning, but this taught me to be careful. Not everyone who smiles at you is your friend.”
