FC Platinum defender Kelvin Moyo says they mean business ahead of their battle against log leaders Chicken Inn in a Castle Lager Premiership tie at Mandava this afternoon. Moyo warned Chicken Inn players, most of whom are close acquaintances, that they should brace for an explosive battle. The defender grew up in Bulawayo. “I’m at work here at FC Platinum and they (Chicken Inn players) are my friends, but when it’s time for work, we have to work and put that friendship aside and do our job,’’ he said.
“But after the game we talk and laugh about it, but I hope that come Saturday afternoon, we will come up with a victory.
“It doesn’t put me under any pressure (to play against Chicken Inn) because I’m just doing my job here at FC Platinum, I think it’s going to be a tough match.”
The former Young Warriors defender, who has been scoring for his team in crucial matches, said it was key for them to win this match.
Chicken Inn beat defending champions CAPS United during midweek to rise to the top of the table.
“For four years since I came here, I haven’t lost to Chicken Inn, so I think we mustn’t lose to them although I think it’s going to be a tough game,” he said.
FC Platinum have de-registered midfielder Simon Shoko, who sustained a knee injury which has ruled him out of the game for 10 months.
According to the club, Shoko, who was injured while training with the Warriors, was currently undergoing rehabilitation.
FC Platinum were taking care of all the medical expenses.
“He was on top of his game, commanding a place in the starting 11, but he was injured when he had been called to the national team.
“Unfortunately, the injury he sustained is serious and the doctors have said it will take a bit of time for him to be back, he will probably be out for at least 10 months, which is really a long time considering that we are left with six months before the end of the season.
“The doctors have said it’s an 80 percent career-ending injury, they are working on it,” said FC Platinum spokesperson Chido Chizondo.
