FC Platinum fans call for substantive coach

FC Platinum were reduced to an ordinary outfit on Saturday by a fired up Monomotapa who displayed a classic show at Mandava.

Lloyd Chitembwe’s name has been thrown into the fray by the fans as they are happy with his disciplinarian measures, a thing which is lacking at the platinum miners as they do not accord Tendai Chikuni much respect as he is a young coach.

“They must appoint a substantive coach who is very strict. There is no unity in the camp and players have three camps, Masvingo, Harare and Bulawayo. There is also the issue of tribalism.

“Chikuni is good but he needs to work under a substantive coach especially Lloyd Chitembwe because with Caps United’s performance we are afraid he might be recalled to Caps United to save them from relegation” said Sharon Zhou who is a cross border trader.

Norman Gumbo a committee member in the supporters club had two coaches in mind.

“They must appoint either John Phiri or Chitembwe to take charge of the team with immediate effect.

They must also give juniors the chance to play and Francis Tizayi who has conceded two goals should be given the nod ahead of Tafadzwa Dube who conceded 21 goals this season,” he said.

Philimon Muvengwa the club spokesperson appealed to the fans to be patient.

“Chikuni is an interim coach and we will appoint a substantive coach later because it is a process which cannot be done overnight.

“Coaches are professionals and we need time to do that. I am appealing to the fans and the players to rally behind Chikuni  in the meantime,” he said.

FC Platinum fans were forced to stream out of the stadium last Saturday after Kugona Kunenge Kudada suffered their heaviest defeat of the season. It was a clear sign that they were not happy with the gaffer who had juggled with the team shifting players from their positions. The team has more than three players for each position.

Players are not happy with the coach and they manipulate him. On Saturday goalkeeper Tafadzwa Dube instructed Chikuni to substitute Rowan Nenzou who had suffered a knock in the first minute and he obliged. Divisions amongst players who were signed last season and those brought by their former coach Rahman Gumbo have suddenly emerged as the team fails to collect maximum points.

When the miners played Dynamos at Mandava in a match they lost for the fourth time, Qadr Amin slapped Partson Jaure in an off the ball incident after the referee had already blown for a foul against the defending champions.

On Saturday the  FC Platinum bus was diverted on its way to Mandava amid fears of juju.
