A Bulawayo woman has described her horror at the hands of her daughter whom she claimed struggled with alcohol abuse and had also turned her house into a “makeshift brothel” by allegedly inviting her boyfriends for sleep-overs during her absence.
A seemingly troubled Margret Dube prayed for the eviction of her daughter Nonkosi Dube from the family house saying she was alcohol-addicted.
She said Nonkosi frequently goes on binges during which she falls and gets bruised adding that in a desperate bid to raise money to buy beer, her alcoholic daughter was selling household property.
In her application for a protection order which was later confirmed by the presiding magistrate Tinashe Tashaya, Margret said she wanted her drunkard daughter out of the house.
“I am Nonkosi Dube’s mother. My daughter is disrespectful. She steals food and property in the house and sells them to raise money to buy beer.
“I am no longer putting food in the fridge as she steals it for re-sale and as a way of stopping her from stealing the food I am now keeping it at our neighbour’s house.
“She also brings her boyfriends home and it really worries me. The other time when I was away her other boyfriend came and caused a scene at the house and broke window panes claiming my daughter was locking herself in the house with another man.
“When I told her that I will be away for three months she threatened to chase away the tenants so that she can freely bring her boyfriends. As a result of her wild behaviour I want her out of my house,” complained Margret.
She further said Nonkosi had also threatened to sell the house in order to raise money for beer.
In response Nonkosi didn’t refute her mother’s accusations. She said she had no problems with her mother’s application to chuck her out of the house.
The magistrate condemned her behaviour before he sternly ordered her to stay away from the house, not emotionally abuse her mother by stealing her food and property and also not to bring any person home without her mother’s consent.
