A LOCAL Chaplain is expected to leave the country next week for an African Union workshop on mental health in Liberia.
Dr Lillian Mudyanadzo is going to Liberia as a peer review advisor of the Mental Health Psychosocial Support policy for the African Union.
Dr Mudyanadzo, a Chaplain at Doves Funeral Services, told H-Metro:
“My assignment is a great recognition of our nation Zimbabwe,” said Dr Mudyanadzo. It is also a sign that women in Zimbabwe have that potential to do more.
“The Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) is supporting the African Union Department of Political Affairs, Peace and Security in the development of a draft policy document on addressing the psychosocial support of survivors of conflict and post-conflict in Africa.”
She added:
“This technical meeting is organised in collaboration with GIZ and the African Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (Africa CDC), which has a continental mandate on public health, including mental health and psychosocial support.
“The Peace and Security Council emphasised the importance of addressing all the issues in a holistic manner, including those relating to trauma and other psychosocial needs of survivors of violent conflicts particularly women, children and other vulnerable groups.”
Dr Mudyanadzo is not new to foreign assignments.
In 2022, she was among the observers of the Tunisia general elections.
