SAKUNDA REMIND GIANTS OF THEIR EXPECTATIONS

SAKUNDA HOLDINGS have challenged Dynamos and Highlanders to produce performances that match the sponsorship packages the two giants are enjoying from the company.

The two giants were also reminded about the need to adhere to good corporate governance tenets at a kit unveiling ceremony held at the Sakunda Holdings’ offices in Harare yesterday.

Both Dynamos and Highlanders were presented with three sets of Adidas playing kits plus travel and training apparel.

Sakunda Holdings company secretary, Maurice Makoni, said:

“There are a number of ingredients that we believe as Sakunda go into the good of football and the success of the game in this country.

“Among them would be efficient and competent administration of the game, good corporate

governance, simple love for the game, hard work and unity of purpose among the stakeholders.”

He added:

“There’s need for normalcy and quietness in both the cockpit and on the football pitch.

“Both clubs know what we are talking about when we talk of normalcy.

“When that happens, Sakunda and Better Brands, would forever be ready to step in and actively support the game of football in this country.”

Better Brands, who are owned by businessman Scott Sakupwanya, are also now sponsoring Highlanders and will have their logo on the back of the Bosso jersey.

Although they are generally happy with their partnership with Dynamos and Highlanders, Sakunda Holdings warned that the partnership would mean nothing if results on the pitch were poor.

“Supporting Dynamos and Highlanders is making sure, in a way, you are sustaining the whole Premier Soccer League,” said Makoni.

“But make no mistake, as Sakunda we believe that these kits, sumptuous as they maybe, are nothing, they will come all to naught unless they are matched by purposeful, quality and committed delivery on the football pitch.

“The kit and all other aspects of these partnerships, including ours and Better Brands, are only one side of the equation.

“The other part is the duty that is bestowed on the two clubs to make sure they not just acquit themselves, but also appease all the stakeholders in the football fraternity.”
