LEONARD Dembo’s daughter, Fenistia, says life without their father has taught them to be resilient and hard-working.

Dembo died on April 9, 1996, age 37.

Fenny, as the songbird is fondly known, said:

“For the past 28 years, life without my father has been a journey filled with both challenges and opportunities for growth.

“While his absence has undoubtedly left a void in my life, it has also taught me resilience and the importance of cherishing the memories and lessons he imparted during his time with us.

“I have learnt to navigate life’s twists and turns with the support of loved ones and by drawing strength from the values he instilled in me through his music.

“Though we miss his physical presence, his legacy continues to guide and inspire me every day.”

She hailed old and new fans of the late music legend.

“I am deeply honoured by the love and support of my father’s fans and I understand the responsibility that comes with preserving his musical legacy.

“While there is undoubtedly pressure to meet expectations, I approach it with humility and a profound appreciation for the impact my father had on his audience.

“I strive to honour his memory by staying true to his artistic vision while also exploring my own creative path.

“Ultimately, my goal is to continue sharing his music with the world while adding my own unique voice to the conversation, ensuring that his legacy endures for generations to come,” she said.

She added:

“To both the long-standing admirers of my father’s music and those just discovering his timeless melodies, I extend my heartfelt gratitude for your unwavering support and enthusiasm.

“My father’s music has transcended borders, touching the hearts of listeners across generations and I am deeply humbled to be entrusted with continuing his musical journey.”
