Actor and TV presenter, Fezile Makhanya is receiving a lot of hate for his character on Mzansi Magic’s The Queen.

Fezile plays Tebogo Ncube, a charming businessman with a huge ego and an abusive side to him.

Since his arrival on the show, Tebogo has caused a lot of hype on social media, reigniting conversations about the character traits of abusive men.

And although Fezile says that he and Tebogo are nothing alike, he still receives a lot of hateful looks from people.

Things have gotten so back, the actor has been warned to avoid public spaces for his own safety.

Speaking to TshisaLive, Fezile said that even his dad sat him down and gave him a lecture about abusing women.

“There has been a lot of hate but I understand the more they hate me, the more I am doing my job. I am convincing them of something that is different to who I really am and that was my goal as an actor.

“Wherever I go, people look at me with distaste. My dad was even concerned and sat me down to talk about my character. He told me that he didn’t raise me to hit a woman,” he told the publication.

The actor also revealed that having to play Tebogo is so physically draining that after his first “abusive” scene, he got home, showered and passed out.

“It was very heavy. I have never been an abuser so it was very emotionally draining. I just went home, showered and passed out. It was all the energy I had,” he said. — Online
