HIGHLANDERS assistant coach Amini Soma Phiri does not take kindly to being asked about the state of affairs in the team a especially by fans or supporters.

The coach seems to be on a streak of making headlines for bad reasons after he allegedly threw chairs at supporters after a misunderstanding at the Highlanders Club House on Saturday night.

After Bosso beat FC Platinum 3-1 on penalties in the semi final of the Independence Cup at Barbourfields Stadium last Saturday, fans, players and some members of the Highlanders technical team including Phiri took the celebrations to the Club House after the match.

In the mid of the celebrations a number of fans are alleged to have asked Phiri a as a member of the Highlanders technical team a to explain why the Bosso substitution bench lacked depth.

The fans further queried that the Bosso substitution bench lacked game changers who could win a game for the team if introduced into a match when the team was losing.

Irked by the insistent questioning by the fans, Phiri allegedly went into a fit of rage throwing chairs at the supporters and shouting obscenities.

a?The coach did not take kindly to being questioned by the fans on the state of the substitution bench of the team and he started throwing chairs at them in a fit of rage,a? said a source who was present at the Club House when the brawl occurred.

He was reprimanded by his fellow technical team members.

Highlanders chief executive officer Ndumiso Gumede professed ignorance on the matter. He was in Harare when the fracas happened.

Phiri did not take calls from B-Metro Sport when sought for comment.

In a space of a month Phiri has hogged the limelight for bad reasons. He was recently dragged to the Bulawayo magistrates court facing charges of criminal insult and undermining police authority.

The charges emanate from an incident that took place at a parking bay along Joshua Mqabuko Nkomo Street and 6th Avenue where Phiri and a top Bulawayo police officer Chief Superintendent Alberito Andiseni Mashingaidze were involved a scuffle over parking space.

He was subsequently arrested and arraigned before the courts.
