Looking at the Unseen
2 KINGS 3:16 -17 KJV
[16] And he said, Thus saith the LORD, Make this valley full of ditches. [17] For thus saith the LORD, Ye shall not see wind, neither shall ye see rain; yet that valley shall be filled with water, that ye may drink, both ye, and your cattle, and your beasts.
Moab rebelled against the king of Israel. King Jehoram went out of Samaria, and he went, and sent to Jehoshaphat the king of Judah, asking him to go with him to fight against Moab.
Jehoshaphat agreed and they went to battle, but along the way they lost their way.
Jehoshaphat asked if there was a prophet around, and was told that there was Elisha, the prophet who had worked with Elijah before.
Elisha asked for a musician to play a song for him. When he played, the Spirit of the Lord came upon Elisha, and he prophesied.
The prophecy sounded ridiculous to the people who were going to a battle. It said they were supposed to dig ditches in the valley.
There was not going to be any wind or rain, but the valleys were going to be filled with water.
In the morning, water came from Edom, and the country was filled with water.
When all the Moabites rose up early in the morning, and the sun shone upon the water, it looked like blood to them (Moabites).
And they said: “This is blood: the kings are surely slain, and they have smitten one another”.
They hurried to take the spoil as they thought their enemy was dead. They obviously threw away their weapons, ready to take the spoil. When they came to the camp of Israel, the Israelites rose up and smote the Moabites, so that they fled before Israel.
God’s remedy sounds crazy.
The war seemed to have nothing to do with ditches and water. But that was the way Israel was going to overcome.
Just dig ditches. Don’t ask God to explain.
The deeper the ditches were, the more the water. There was no wind or rain, but in the morning the ditches were full of water.
The enemy mistook the shiny water in the ditches to be blood of the dead armies of Israel. They threw caution to the wind, and that was their undoing.
God works mysteriously. Just dig ditches.
The deeper they dug, the more waters they got. Every time they would dig, maybe they would hit an old beer can. They would throw it out. Maybe they hit something that said God was no longer the same as He was yesterday, they kicked it out of the way and kept digging. The deeper you dig, the more water you will get.
Dig deeper for your miracle, Dig deeper for your blessing. Dig deeper. Pray more. Read your Bible more. Fast a little bit more. You get the ditch ready; God will produce the water. You get all the unbelief out of the way, and God will produce the blessing.
The deeper your experience with God, the more the miracles. You may hit against some stones, rock or sticks and tree roots. Just keep digging; you may have to remove certain obstacles that stand in the way of the water of God’s blessings, but just keep digging.
Maybe it is a bad habit, some anger issue, some malice, and the like. Keep digging and removing them out of the way so that God’s blessings may flow.
God will send water. God wants to use the water to confuse your enemy.
If you dig up against one thing, the beer can in the ice box, throw it out and make way for the Holy Ghost.
Every time you hit against a snag, throw the thing out. The deeper you dig, the more water you will get. So, make a way for a blessing.
That is what we have to do: to make way for the Holy Ghost to pour down. Make a way in your house; make it in your church; make it in yourself.
Kick everything out of the way; get ready. There is coming a gusher, if you will get ready for it. If you don’t make ready for it, you’ll never see it.
Just dig your ditches. Prepare for a miracle. Don’t figure out how it will come. Just be ready for it.
Do all you can to attract it.
If it is to increase your skill, enhance your career or receiving training for your job, so be it. Maybe you need to get a driver’s licence now or a passport. You never know when you may get a job that needs the licence and the passport. Just dig. You will never know when and how the blessing will come.
Make the valley full of ditches. Just stay ready.
