HARARE’S karting community is preparing for a major weekend of racing as Kart Sport Club hosts Round 4 of its 2026 Championship at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The meeting carries extra significance as it serves as the fourth and final round of the ROTAX Challenge Championship, with title battles still very much alive in the premier categories.

Every position matters. Every lap counts.

All eyes will be on the Junior Max and Senior Max classes, where championship leaders will attempt to convert strong seasons into overall titles.

In the Junior Max Class, Seth Rukato enters the final round leading the standings after a consistent campaign.

Rukato has shown exceptional pace this season and another strong performance could secure the coveted Rotax Challenge crown.

He will, however, face a strong challenge from Yaseen Savania, who had a clean sweep of wins last time out and is only 11 points adrift of Rukato.

Sam Townsend, in third position, is having an outstanding season and is closely followed by Eshaan Savania, Zayaan Savania and August Moyo who are all covered by only 11 points.

Zaydaan Savania leads the Senior Max championship heading into the finale after having a consistent season. The senior category has produced some of the closest racing of the year and a resurgent Eli Pilosoff will be determined to put the pressure on Savania in a bid to overturn the points deficit in the final event.

With Zach Craft missing this event, opportunities are open for rookies Kufaro Chimuti and Ayden Goddard to earn some good points

The final round of any championship often rewards consistency as much as outright speed, and competitors will be acutely aware that qualifying position and race result could determine the season’s outcome. The club’s Mini ROK Class continues to grow and remains one of the most exciting development categories on the programme.

Designed to provide young drivers with a competitive platform before moving into the larger faster classes, Mini ROK has attracted increasing participation and continues to showcase Zimbabwe’s next generation of karting talent.

The category has become an important stepping stone within the local motorsport ladder.

In the Mini ROK championship, rivals Engelbert Mudzimba and Elroy Shamu have been trading places in the top positions all season and have new lap record holder Rayyan Savania in close company. Oliver Broadway had a welcome return to the front pack with both Wade Gleig and Teo Gresko improving their performances. Young rookie Tamuda Mungoni continues to impress and moves up to 5th pace in the Rok Championship with new comer Kuziwa Chimuti enjoying his racing debut.
