IT was a case of try, try and try again for Deco.
After several trial stints in South Africa over the past three years, Zimbabweas reigning Soccer Star of the Year Danny
a?Decoa? Phiri has finally found a new base in Mzansi.
Phiri, who was also Chicken Inn captain, recently completed a move to Absa Premiership side Golden Arrows and he says, the never-give-up spirit, has positively impacted on his career.
a?It was a case of determination, I never gave up after being turned down by some clubs in South Africa. I told myself that against all odds, it can still be done,a? said Phiri.
Due to consistency, ball artistry and wizardry, Deco has in the past seasons been a target of even local clubs chief among them, Highlanders and Dynamos.
In South Africa he once had trial stints with Polokwane City, Free State Stars and lower division side FC Cape Town, but he was unlucky with making a break.
A couple of months ago he was assessed by Golden Arrows together with Moses Demera and Tafadzwa Kutinyu who were his teammates at Chicken Inn.
He is one of the players that impressed some South African clubs during the Orange African Nations Championship tournament in 2013, which saw other Warriors players, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Milton Ncube and Erick Chipeta sign with Mamelodi Sundowns, Ajax Cape Town and Chippa United respectively.
Peter a?Rioa? Moyoas move to Mpumalanga hit a brickwall, but he had to join National First Division side Witbank Spurs, where he played with fellow former Highlanders striker Cleopas a?Balotellia? Dube before retracing his footsteps back to Zimbabwe lastA month.
