MARATHON runner Fortunate Chidzivo says she is looking forward to her third appearance at the World Athletics Championships when she takes to the course on Sunday.

Zimbabwe are fielding eight athletes at the meet that get underway on Saturday and runs until September 21.

Chidzivo is expected to represent the country in women’s marathon and will be the first Zimbabwean in action on Sunday.

“Whatever the outcome, I will embrace it with joy and pride as I am going to represent the nation.

“I would just tell myself that I have represented the Zimbabwean women so well,” said Chidzivo.

She is also excited to have Vimbayi Maisvorewa to compete in 400m and hurdler Ashley Miller Kamangirira in Tokyo.

“I think this is my second time where I am going with other ladies in the team. The first time I went to the World Championships (in 2017), I was with Rutendo (Nyahora).

“It was so good because I had company…It’s going to be something wonderful to have other female athletes alongside, where I have someone to walk around with and everything.

“It’s a good thing having them on the team for these World Championships,” said Chidzivo.
