President Mnangagwa has called on the church to foster unity and peace to promote national development.
Speaking at the Johane Masowe weChishanu annual conference at Gwanzura Shrine in Highfield, Harare, this Saturday afternoon, President Mnangagwa said peace and unity were essential for the country’s continued development.
“The church community is called upon to continue praying for peace and unity,” President Mnangagwa said.
“Where there is peace and unity, there is development.”
He applauded the church for participating in various economic development activities taking place across the country.
“Work with councils, Ministers of State in various areas across the country,” he said.
“Our philosophy is leaving no place and no one behind.”
President Mnangagwa thanked the congregation for its contribution to communities, including the donation of wheelchairs and support to hospitals.
He urged churches to continue promoting high moral standards, particularly in the fight against the scourge of drug and substance abuse.
The President applauded philanthropist, Mr Wicknell Chivayo, for giving back to the church community and the country at large.
“I want to thank philanthropist Wicknell for giving back to the community,” he said. “Well done, young man.”
The annual conference was attended by several Government officials, Harare mayor Jacob Mafume and various Johane Masowe leaders.
