South Africa-based rapper Teekay Mxoexic has reflected on an enlightening year collaborating with legendary musician Freddy Gwala.
The partnership, initiated in August 2022, saw Freddy Gwala’s career resurgence with the hit track “Ok’salayo” by Lindough, contributing to the rapper’s success in the past year. Teekay Mxoexic played a vital role in the marketing and management team for Freddy Gwala, working closely with managers Ms Binali and Malackcean, with whom he has collaborated since the management of Martin and Ndolwane Super Sounds.
Expressing his gratitude, Teekay Mxoexic acknowledges the mentorship he received from Freddy Gwala, stating, “It’s always the best touring with Freddy Gwala as it has opened more doors for me in a way that I can get bookings because of the potential I have. It has grown me as an artiste to know how to work professionally.”
Last year, they shared the stage at various venues, including Marapong Pub & Grill in North West, Jaraz Pub in Limpopo, Capello in Witbank, Mpumalanga, and Croydon Shisanyama in Kempton Park, Johannesburg.
In a remarkable journey through 2023, Teekay Mxoexic recounts a year filled with numerous gigs and collaborative tours across South African provinces alongside Freddy Gwala. Expressing gratitude for the invaluable advice received from Gwala, Teekay is poised to unleash a year of hard work and artistic endeavours in 2024.
