THREE people. who are awaiting the finalisation of investigations into their armed robbery cases, have been dragged to court facing fresh charges of armed robbery.
Gibson Dalitso Manjonda, Edward Takunda Manjonda and Gaillah Muroyi were not asked to plead when they appeared before Harare magistrate Marewanazvo Gofa, who remanded them in custody.
The court heard that on January 9, the trio and their accomplice Tinashe Alias Sago, who is still at large, approached the complainant, who is a taxi driver, who was parked in the Avenues area.
The trio hired the taxi from Harare CBD to Queensdale.
It is alleged that along Chiremba and Longford Road, in Queensdale, the gang ordered the complainant to stop.
One of the gang members, who was seated on the back seat, produced an unidentified pistol, pointed it at the complainant and ordered him to disembark from the vehicle and surrender all his property.
The driver disembarked and started to run away.
The robbers chased the driver and managed to catch up with him.
One of the robbers tripped the complainant to the ground and he put his leg on the complainant’s neck.
The others searched his pockets and took the car keys, US$20 and an ITEL S23 Cellphone.
Edward Manjonda and Muroyi were arrested in Kwekwe.
The trio led to the recovery of the vehicle but the firearms were not recovered.
