THREE gun-wielding robbers who brought fear to Beitbridge’s quiet streets have finally been caged — and they won’t be seeing daylight anytime soon!
Nkosi Nkomo (27), Majajama Ndlovu (24), and Hulisani Ndou (21) were each slapped with 10 years behind bars after being convicted of an armed robbery committed in cold blood last September.
The trio, believed to be part of a larger gang still on the run, were convicted by Regional Magistrate Charity Maphosa, who didn’t mince her words. Although they pleaded not guilty, the evidence against them was bulletproof.
Originally handed a 12-year sentence, the court shaved off two years—one for good behaviour, and another if they cough up the stolen goods.
According to prosecutor Willbrought Muleya, the gang struck at 1 AM in the leafy low-density suburbs, ambushing a man fixing his car. They scaled his security wall, flashed a firearm, and threatened to kill if he didn’t comply.
The terrified victim was robbed of two smartphones, dragged into his house at gunpoint, and relieved of his laptop and a hair clipper before the gang bolted.
But the long arm of the law caught up with them—tracked by cellphone to Musina, South Africa, where they were busted for immigration violations. A pistol, hammer, and the stolen laptop were found in their possession.
