Fuel dealers arrested

POLICE have arrested two men, who were selling fuel without a licence, and recovered 475 litres of petrol and 520 litres of diesel.

Police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi, confirmed the arrest.

“Police in Chimanimani swiftly reacted to a tip-off and arrested Enock Tauya (41) and Peter Gundani (31) for dealing in petrol, as well as diesel, without a licence,” he said.

“The arrest led to the recovery of 475 litres of petrol and 520 litres of diesel at the suspects’ homestead at Chebuwe Village in Chimanimani.”

The police have also stepped up anti-smuggling operations at Maitengwe Border Post where they arrested Witness Ngwenya (38) and Delight Ngwenya (23) for smuggling various electrical gadgets, and groceries, valued at R 11 000.

“Police in Harare are investigating circumstances surrounding a robbery case, which occurred on 08/06/22, at the corner of Samora Machel Avenue and Chinhoyi Street Harare,” Ass Comm Nyathi said.

“The suspect, only identified as Tapiwa, and his accomplice, robbed the complainant US$6 500 cash during a test drive of a Nissan NP200 vehicle, which the suspects pretended to be selling.

“Also, police at ZRP Esigodini arrested six illegal miners in connection with public violence, which occurred at Arkjet Highwood Mine, in the Doyana area.

“The suspects turned violent while police officers were executing a High Court order directing the police to remove illegal miners at the mine.”
