FORMER champions, Chicken Inn, yesterday virtually unveiled their squad for this season ahead of the start of the new football season.
The Gamecocks engaged in a new player recruitment exercise.
They parted ways with their former captain Danny “Deco” Phiri, long-serving goalminder Pride Zendera and striker Malvin Hwata.
While the destination of Phiri and Zendera is unknown, Hwata is now on the books of free-spending Simba Bhora.
Among the seven new Gamecocks arrivals are ex-Arenel Movers goal minder Aron “Arusha” Ngwenya, ex-Chinhoyi Stars player Kumbirai Nyamutenha, Tadiwa Muchenje who was with Bulawayo Chiefs, Tinashe Mashaineri, Edward Musena (Kwekwe United), Walter Vuwa (Ngezi Platinum Stars) and Vincent Mugande, who was snatched from Southern Region Division One side DRC United.
“We would like to welcome the new boys in our squad that is going to compete in the 2025 season,” said club spokesperson Nkululeko Nkala.
“Last Friday we engaged in a team bonding exercise that was held at Blue Hills Camp in Umzingwane.
“It was a team-building exercise that went well.
“We had sessions on football administration, togetherness and wellness. It was an exercise that also involved activities like mini golf, paintball, table tennis, zip line and archery. As Chicken Inn players and executive members we really had a nice time. The team is now ready for 2025 action.”
In their pre-season sessions, they have been using Hartsfield B Arena and Bulawayo Chiefs Village.
