FORMER Dynamos midfielder Denver Mukamba has likened the team’s teenage sensation, Francis Jerimani, to Ronald Chitiyo.
Mukamba is currently unattached, having parted ways with Scotland, after his contract expired.
Interestingly, the house where Mukamba grew up in Lusaka, Highfield, is adjacent to Jerimani’s home, just 50 metres apart.
Mukamba has witnessed Jerimani’s transition from boy to Dynamos player.
Jerimani impressed many when Dynamos coach Lloyd Chigowe introduced the 19-year-old in the late stages of their clash against Simba Bhora in the Castle Challenge Cup on Saturday.
The gamble paid off as Jerimani and Enersio Perezo made a big difference, helping DeMbare turn the corner.
Jerimani proved to be a nightmare for Blessing Moyo, who struggled to stop the industrious youngster.
Jerimani had limited game time last season at Dynamos, battling to make the Match Day squad for most of the campaign.
Mukamba is not surprised by the praise Jerimani is receiving, saying Dynamos fans should expect more.
“I have known Jerimani for a long time, he is from Highfield and lives just a few metres away from the house where I was raised,” Mukamba said.
“He is very quick and comfortable with the ball. I’m not surprised by what people are saying about him, as I know he is a talented young man who just needs a chance to showcase his skills.
“He reminds me of Chitiyo. Chitiyo was unstoppable, and Jerimani has the potential to be twice as good as him because he is at the right club at the right age.”
Mukamba has been training on his own during pre-season and has not ruled out the possibility of returning to Dynamos.
He is likely to start training with DeMbare today when they regroup for this week’s business.
However, his fate will be decided by Chigowe.
Apparently, Devon Chafa and Partson Jaure have been training with Dynamos.
Mukamba is also linked with a reunion with Rodwell Dhlakama, who is in charge of Hwange in the ZIFA Southern Region Division One Soccer League.
