GANGSTERS HIT KWEKWE CHOW SPOT: Carjack Merc and hold security guard hostage

Midlands Bureau

A DARING gang of six armed robbers stormed a popular fast-food joint at Mbizo 4 Shopping Centre in Kwekwe, making off with cash and a Mercedes-Benz worth a combined US$10 361.

The late-night raid happened around 10pm over the weekend, leaving stunned patrons in fear as the robbers flashed a pistol and took a security guard hostage.

“They stole US$361 from the till and a Mercedes-Benz worth US$10 000 belonging to one of the patrons who was at the shopping centre. The vehicle was later found abandoned nearby,” confirmed Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko.

Police are now on the hunt for the thugs and have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to arrests.

“If you know something, say something. We urge anyone with information to come forward,” said Insp Mahoko.

The gang is still on the run, and fear grips Mbizo residents as criminals strike with impunity.
