FOOTBALL fans were treated to a moment of magic… then plenty of yawns!
Kwekwe United’s Tafadzwa Muzenda made history on Sunday when he slammed home PSL Goal No. 200 in a 1-1 draw against Greenfuel at Gweru’s Bata Stadium. It was a historic moment for the top-flight newcomers, but the fireworks didn’t last long.
Just minutes later, Clive Rupiya of Greenfuel responded with Goal No. 201, equalising in a match that ended in a fair but forgettable stalemate.
This came just before two giants of the game, Dynamos and Highlanders, locked horns in a highly anticipated showdown that fizzled into yet another goalless draw.
Saturday had already served up six goals from seven matches, inching the season total to 199 before Sunday’s double-header brought the league to the 201-goal mark after 126 matches played.
But here’s the kicker:
⚽ 27 goalless draws
⚽ 51 stalemates in total
Fans are starting to wonder if the PSL is turning into a No-Goal Zone.
Meanwhile, MWOS sharpshooter Billy Veremu and Washington Navaya remain neck and neck at the top of the Golden Boot race with nine goals apiece. But for a league this competitive, many feel the net isn’t shaking enough.
“We want drama, goals, and madness, not just passing drills for 90 minutes,” shouted one disappointed fan after the Bosso-Dembare snoozefest.
With the league now on a brief break, maybe strikers can sharpen their boots and deliver the fireworks fans crave when action resumes.
More goals. Less yawns. PSL, we’re watching!
More to follow…
