IT’S hard not to feel for the family which Butler Masango left behind when he died in South Africa last year.
Sixteen months after he passed away, his young family are still struggling to come to terms with the former Young Warrior’s death.
The former CAPS United, Black Aces and Rufaro Rovers midfielder was 48 when he died after having battled a heart ailment.
Monday should have been his birthday and his wife, Nyarai Pemba, took to social media to remember the husband she lost.
“Your second birthday without you daddy Shumba…continue to rest in love,” she posted on Facebook.
“Happy born day in Heaven.”
Masango was buried at his rural home, Mupandenyama Village, in Chiweshe, in May last year.
He left behind a wife and three kids – Tinotenda Butler (Jnr), Chido and Gladys.
Chido spoke passionately about her father during his burial.
“He was a pillar of the family and I don’t know how we will be able to cope as a family,” she said.
“He has left a huge void in our family.
“He was a loving father, we were very close and I feel blank at the moment.
“I feel for the players he was grooming in South Africa.”
She added:
“I’m not really into football but I know that he was into developing talent.
“When we were still in South Africa, some of the guys came and they were really down.
“He trained some underprivileged young players for free. We are really saddened.”
