Local gospel music videos have been criticised for lack of creativity as artistes, directors and producers fail to meet expected standards.
Not many are fully utilising the new media technology but one artiste, Abraham Matuka, is walking tall with the release of videos from his third album “Vhina Vhina, Tambira Mwari’.’
The videos were shot at natural locations and the musician put serious thought into the production.
With a lot of creativity from ancient floral background to remote village set- up, Matuka also explored the best of both worlds in terms of fashion in his videos. According to Matuka, the videos were shot in Harare and Chiweshe. “It has been my passion for a long time to produce a different taste of gospel music videos. I mixed with both modern and traditional attires, buildings and scenic natural locations which shows God’s wonders,” said Matuka.
Matuka’s beats on the video album are a fusion of rhumba, jit and praise and worship. The song “Hold On” is a deep worship track which encourages believers to remain steadfast. “Mutendi” encourages believers to persevere in doing God’s work while “Vhina Vhina” joyfully celebrates God’s grace and mercy. “Ndofamba” edifies people who walk with Jesus always.
