THE Government has entered into a partnership with Liquid Intelligent Technologies aimed at accelerating digital skills development and positioning Zimbabwe as a key player in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Yesterday, Skills Audit and Development Minister Dr Jenfan Muswere signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Liquid Intelligent Technologies at his offices in Harare.

Speaking to journalists after the signing, Dr Jenfan Muswere said the partnership seeks to establish a sustainable education and skills development programme aligned with industry demands, with a strong focus on artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital analytics.

“The signing of the Memorandum of Understanding is about ensuring that we create a robust and sustainable educational and skills development programme that relates to industry, focusing primarily on artificial intelligence, cloud computing and digital analytics,” he said.

Dr Muswere said the initiative was critical in ensuring Zimbabwe becomes not only a consumer of digital technologies, but also a creator, innovator and inventor within the global digital ecosystem.

“We want Zimbabwe in the digital world not only to become a consumer of digital software and hardware, but also a participant with contributions in innovation, invention and the broader ecosystem of the Fourth Industrial Revolution,” he said.

He added that the collaboration supports Vision 2030’s objective of building a digitally connected upper-middle-income economy anchored on technological sovereignty.

The chief executive officer of Liquid Intelligent Technologies, Ms Loretta Songola, said the agreement comes at a crucial time when countries are moving beyond basic digital infrastructure towards integrating advanced technologies into economic development.

“We do not want good digital infrastructure without a technology component and an AI component,” she said.

Ms Songola noted that the company, which is part of Cassava Technologies, is well-positioned to support Zimbabwe’s digital transformation agenda through specialised training and innovation programmes.

“This initiative is coming at the right time, where we need to take it not only as education, but as equipping a digital economy,” she said.

She added that the partnership has already led to the establishment of an innovation hub that will provide training in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and digital fluency to equip citizens with the capabilities required in the evolving digital economy.
