THE Special Advisor to the President, Dr Joram Gumbo, says the Government will continue to pursue policies that support industrialisation and the growth of the local manufacturing sector.

Grounded in investor-friendly policies, Dr Gumbo noted that the manufacturing sector has shown complementary support through innovation.

Speaking during a tour of Bronzepel Gas Cylinder Manufacturing in Mt Hampden, Dr Gumbo commended the company for its innovative approach.

“We are here to see progress on the ground and witness how government policies are translating into action,” he said.

“This company is a clear example of what happens when the private sector and government work together.

“We will continue to create an environment that encourages productivity, supports innovation, and promotes job creation as we move toward Vision 2030.”

The company, one of the major gas manufacturers in Southern Africa, has the potential to produce about 3 million gas cylinders of different sizes per year.

It employs around 80 locals, mostly youths from Zvimba, with the potential to reach 400 workers when fully operational.

Workers hailed the company for nurturing technical skills in welding and metal fabrication while promoting livelihoods.

“Most of us here are young people from the community.

“Instead of being idle or falling into drug abuse, we are now busy, earning an income and building our future,” said one worker.

Company director Mr Mohammed Jammal praised the talent and skills in Zimbabwe. “We are proud to be one of the first in Southern Africa to manufacture gas cylinders locally,” he said.

“This investment proves that Zimbabwe has the capacity, the skills, and the talent.

“With over three million units set to be produced every year, we are not just serving our nation but aiming to export across borders, creating jobs and boosting industrialisation.”

Zvimba Rural District Council chairperson Councillor Magaya emphasised that such investments have breathed new life into rural economies.

“As a Rural District Council, we fully support industrialisation in our area. As the host local authority, we are receiving numerous applications from local and foreign investors who wish to set up manufacturing plants in the district, which positively impacts revenue collection,” he said.

“This factory shows that development doesn’t have to be confined to cities. We are seeing transformation, employment, and real progress toward the goals of Vision 2030.”
