WOMEN empowerment efforts in the Chisumbanje area of Chipinge District received a major boost following the introduction of various initiatives to drive income-generating projects.

The programmes, which include garment-making, farming and cookery among others, are being spearheaded by ethanol-producing giant, Green Fuel, as part of its corporate social responsibility duties.

The company’s community relations manager, Ms Merit Rumema, said their goal is to improve community livelihoods and eradicate poverty by empowering women to provide for their families through sustainable means.

Ms Rumema reiterated their commitment to see surrounding areas develop their communities through active participation and involvement in line with Government’s national drive of leaving no one or no place behind in pushing the country’s development agenda.

One of the rolled out projects has seen a thriving enterprise – Manna Creative Fashions – manufacturing Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and corporate uniforms for Green Fuel.

It is also supplying school and nurse uniforms as well as clothes to the local community.
