GREEN Gardens Nursery and Wedding Venue held its fourth edition of the wedding expo last weekend, where brides and grooms-to-be were given a glimpse of what players in the industry had to offer.

Set in an ambient mood, the two-day expo ran from 20-21 February and recorded an increase in the number of guests, as compared to other years, while also welcoming new players in the industry.

The expo, held in a collaborative effort between Green Gardens Nursery, Nqo Video Productions and Vibration Designs, sought to nurture and promote new players in the industry.

Green Gardens Nursery and wedding Venue director Molly Mpofu said she expected more players to exhibit their products, as weddings are fast becoming lucrative business.

“The attendance was good. We however, expected more players, service providers to be precise to exhibit their products, as this industry is fast growing and is lucrative,” she said.

Mpofu added that service providers needed to be versatile and also be open to new ideas, so as to attract and develop a large clientele base.

“Brides love to explore and want their weddings to be unique. They are adventurous and are willing to try something new. It is therefore up to service providers to offer unique products and services to them so as to develop the industry,” she said.

Nqobile Mpofu who runs Nqo Video productions said he was pleased with the turn out at the expo, while also acknowledging the need to embrace the wedding industry, as a business that can be used to revive the economy.

“It’s no secret people are getting married almost every day and this industry, if developed, could be used as a vehicle to resuscitate our ailing economy. We need to properly develop this industry and the cake is very big. As it is we are just chewing a small chunk of the cake. There is need for players in this industry to co-ordinate and work together if we are to develop any further,” he said.

This year the expo welcomed new players in the industry such as Rainbow Hotel, food caterers and entertainers, seasoned groups like IYASA, Hash Touch and Khaya Arts.

From booking a beautiful venue and photographer to ordering your cake and choosing your invitation cards, wedding expos bring the bride-to-be the most comprehensive wedding, with the most service providers in one place.

Exhibitors offer everything from bridal magazines, bridal accessories, bridal shoes, bridesmaid dresses, wedding cakes, wedding catering, wedding decor, wedding gowns, event planners, wedding flowers, gift registries, hair and beauty, wedding hiring companies, wedding stationery, jewellery, mens’ wear, DJ’s and entertainment, photo booths, photographers, videographers, honeymoons and wedding venues.
