THERE are quite a number of new hot and fab fashion trends that have made their way into the top of most people’s wardrobes.
We are in the midst of summer and minis, vests, short and sleek summer dresses are the preferred attire worn by people.
However, there seems to be a huge problem when it comes to guy fashion. When some men/guys hit their teens they literally don’t know what to do with their new bodies, paying particular interest to clothes.
Girls go through a much more obvious change (they just have to get all the new dresses, outfits, shoes and jeans they see on TV), while with young men, it’s more subtle.
The adolescent boy’s body generally gets more slender, loses its curves, and becomes taller; generally boys develop a manly physic.
But boys don’t always think to change their wardrobe, as they hit those years, especially if their parents are very relaxed.
Truth is if you look at most older teens and young men today, they love to wear jeans under the waist.
Fact is male hips weren’t made to hold up a pair of heavy jeans but that’s the reason why there are belts.
The trend, somewhat looks sleek on rappers and gangsters on movies but in the real world, its a straight NO!
What we see on the streets is a total eyesore! I mean what makes people think that we want to see their dirty pair of boxers/underwear? (God knows when you last washed them and whatever it is you have taken on are breeding in your breeches!)
The trend, if my knowledge serves me right, developed in American penitentiaries, black folks called and still call prison that.
According to “legend” if that be the right phrasing prisoners were and still are not allowed to wear belts in prison, for obvious reasons such as suicide or other crimes!
Because of that they let their pants sag.
Some believe it was a sign that gay folks used to communicate their status. Who knows?
That trend later slipped out into the world and became a male fashion style. Especially with hip-hop artistes and rappers. So with that brief lesson in history, you know where it all came from.
Problem is there are some people that overdo things and in the end it turns out to be an eyesore.
I guess if they are just slightly below the waist, remember a little sag boxers’ show a little bit when you bend over and every one can see what’s underneath.
If you decide to wear them at the waist, that’s good old-fashioned style, without any boxers showing.
Low, a little higher than the middle of the butt, with a few inches of boxers showing when guys sit down or bend over . . . I recommend you wear a pair of Polo Ralph Lauren boxers!
Extreme low, past the butt and sloppy looking then you deserve to be sharing showers in a prison with a bunch of muscle rippling gays!
There are some jean types that require you to let them sag but do it with style, imagine if your dad sagged his pants or jeans?
I know that guys feel manly and tough when they let their pants sag but in the end it makes you look like a fool.
Wondering about how to wear jeans that look modern, flattering, and stylish?
Then I recommend you check out these tips on how to navigate your way through some of the leading denim trends.
Tapered denim styles like the skinny jeans draw loads of attention and accentuate your bottom, stomach and hips, and have the tendency to leave your legs looking like spindly, shapeless sticks.
They are flattering when worn tucked in high boots, but many fashionistas can also be seen sporting skinny jeans with ballet flats or high heels, although for the average mortal woman this look is generally not recommended. For the guys, well, the trend isn’t that strong in Zimbabwe so I shan’t dwell on it much.
High rise jeans have been extremely fashionable the past few seasons, and this year is no exception.
Besides the retro appeal they are popular because it is a stylish option which flatters most body types, so long as you don’t confuse a hot ’70s inspired modern cut with mum’s jeans.
Then comes the controversial low-rise jeans, they can be sexy, but resist wearing extreme-low-rise jeans such that your underwear is exposed above the waistline of the pant. Nobody wants to see your thong; it is not a fashion statement.
It is never flattering to have a muffin top (bulge of fleshy midriff) exposed above a low-rise pant. Pulling off the low-rise requires a significant amount of work.
Now for the denim No-Nos!
As a general rule: avoid light-coloured and coloured denim. Darker shades of blue read more like a basic black, and are more versatile in that they may be more appropriate for casual work-wear or dressing up for a night out in town.
Extremely light blues tend to look less sophisticated. Coloured or bleached denim, including white, black, red, green, and any other non-blue shade were a bad mistake from the late 80s early 90s, don’t re-live this evil vintage trend.
Stay clean and styling.
