LONDON. – Pep Guardiola hopes to continue Manchester City’s dominance next season by bringing in a couple of fresh faces this summer.
City thrashed West Ham 4-1 at the London Stadium on Sunday and brought up a century of goals in doing so – a further two will take the tally to 104 and set a new Premier League record.
But the Spaniard is not content to sit back on his laurels and is determined to build on the solid foundations laid during this barnstorming campaign. “Don’t worry, we are going to spend a lot of money next season as well – maybe £1billion or something,” Guardiola joked.
“It’s the same question with Chelsea four years ago, when they were not good the next season. Next season everyone starts with zero points. We need something.
“We need to touch something, the team. Maybe one. Maybe two. No more than that, for next year.”
Though City’s domestic campaign has been an emphatic success, they will strive to improve their European record next term.
They were dumped out of the Champions League at the quarter-final stage this season. Guardiola will be hoping a few key additions this summer will put paid to their succession of disappointments in Europe. – Mailonline.
