By that time Gunners were already trailing the Moneybags in a Castle Lager Premiership match.
But it was the fight between Mupandare and Makombe that stole the show.
Makombe injured his left finger during the fracas and the two shameless administrators were later restrained and kept under police guard until the end of the match.
The defeat left Gunners with a tougher assignment of fighting for survival with seven games remaining before the season comes to an end and they occupy the last relegation slot on the log sitting fourth from bottom.
Gunners felt hard done by their goalkeeper Prosper Chigumba who looked suspicious the whole afternoon as he failed to deal with long range balls pumped at him by FC Platinum strikers.
Platinum may not have been at their best on the day as Gunners enjoyed more possession but they returned to Zvishavane satisfied with the three points having lost 0-2 at home to Caps United last weekend.
The visitors settled early and they got rewarded in the fourth minute when Donald Ngoma found the target from a rebound after Gunners’ ‘keeper Chigumba punched Michelle Katsvairo’s shot back into play.
FC Platinum almost doubled their lead four minutes later but Ali Sadiki’s long range effort was tipped away for a corner by the goalkeeper. Benjamin Marere doubled the Moneybags lead in the 20th minute after he latched on to another rebound as Gunners keeper struggled to contain Quadr Amini’s free kick a few metres from the 18 yard box.
Moments later Katsvairo capitalised on a lapse by Gunners defenders to increase Platinum’s tally as they threatened to tear apart their opponents.
Gunners crawled back into the game and got the consolation through impressive winger Valentine Ndaba in the 24th minute who headed home a Wellington Kamudyariwa cross.
The Moses Chunga-coached side put everything they had in the second half but they found the FC Platinum defence of Daniel Vheremu and Thabani Kamusoko unyielding. Chunga felt the result did not reflect what transpired on the field of play and is now worried about his team’s chances of surviving relegation.
