Harare City Council goes all-out to recover $8 billion debt

The Harare City Council (HCC) has said it will engage debt collectors to recover more than $8 billion that it is owed by ratepayers.

In a statement posted on its official twitter account, the HCC said it needs to recover the outstanding payments to improve service delivery.

“Council is engaging debt collectors for difficult clients and this will enhance revenue collection and ensure all service consumers contribute towards service delivery. Council is owed more than $8 billion.”
