AMBITIOUS Premier Soccer League (PSL) newcomers Hardrock FC have pulled off another major coup after landing the signature of Triangle FC midfield maestro Munashe Bamara, who was also being courted by giants Dynamos.
Bamara, who recently extended his contract with Triangle, arrived at the miners’ base this week, successfully underwent medical examinations and was officially confirmed as the club’s latest signing.
“The dynamic midfielder, known for his composure and vision, arrives from Triangle FC as we continue to strengthen ahead of our debut PSL season,” Hardrock said in a statement.
Dynamos were keen on reuniting Bamara with his former Triangle coach Genesis Mangombe, but the midfield workhorse opted for the big-spending GMI-backed side, where he joins a growing list of high-profile signings.
Among the latest arrivals is Zambian striker Andrew Phiri, who was previously on the books of Tanzanian outfit Singida FC. Phiri is expected to add firepower to Hardrock’s frontline.
Club insiders revealed that while Bamara has already reported for duty, another new signing, Junior Makunike, is currently out of the country attending trials.
Hardrock’s preparations have not been without early setbacks, with defender Boid Mutukure reporting for camp on crutches after sustaining an injury during a festive season social match.
Despite the early challenges, Hardrock’s pre-season preparations are now in full swing as the PSL debutants continue to raid established clubs in a bid to assemble a competitive squad capable of making an immediate impact in top-flight football.
