A WARD meeting was held today in Hatfield Ward 23, where service delivery issues were discussed.
Speaking at the Ward 23 stakeholder engagement meeting held at Waterfalls District Office, Councillor Stanley Manyenga said a good number of residents had attended.
“And I was so pleased because we had time to discuss things with our technical staff who were here today.
“We started with the Community Health Equity Fund (CHEF); residents welcomed the initiative,” he said.
Clr Manyenga said the meeting had also discussed the issue of roads.
“As you know, Waterfalls has issues with roads, especially after the construction of Simon Mazorodze Road and the Trabablas. The detours coming through Waterfalls meant a lot of roads were destroyed during that time.
“There were discussions about those destroyed roads. Residents were eager to hear what the council would be doing about them. So the council is working flat out to ensure these roads are rehabilitated; they can no longer be resurfaced. Rehabilitation was the major concern raised by residents,” he said.
Clr Manyenga said residents had welcomed the prepaid water meters introduced by the City of Harare in partnership with Helcraw Water.
“Of course, they are having challenges. Some are still having difficulties using them and understanding how to operate them. When the prepaid meters are being installed, there may be technical issues, but the water department assured residents that they would resolve those small issues. Generally, residents are glad.
“Before, there were concerns about estimated water bills. Now that there are prepaid water meters, I think they are glad to see that they can pay for exactly what they use,” he said.
