An HIV positive Rusape man who for a period of five months raped his 15 year old step daughter on several occasions with the girl’s mother knowing but not taking any action has been jailed.Hondo Marapira, ( 37) of UVE 2680 Vengere will laungish behind bars for the next 18 years after regional magistrate Mr Livengstone Chipadza suspended two years from 20 years on condition of good behaviour.
State prosecutor Mr James Wirima told the court that Marapira also made the girl to suck his manhood.
The girl was also called to testify and told the court that after the fourth rape encounter she ended up consenting since her mother took no action after she told her that Marapira was raping her. “On dates unkown to the prosecutor but during the period extending from September 1, 2014 to 27 January 2015 the accused person and the girl’s mother would leave the complainant at home going to work.
Said Mr Wirimai: “Marapira would take advantage of the girl’s mother’s absence and would return home when the girl was be alone. The accused person would proceed to rape the girl and would also order her suck his manhood and swallow sperms. Marapira threatened to kill the girl if she told anyone. The accused would sometimes give the complainant money but she would give it to her mother. “Accused person had sexual intercourse with the girl on so many occasions than the complainant can remember. The complainant told her mother about the rape incidents but her mother took no action though she knew accused was HIV positive.” However, on Febraury 2, this year, the complainant went to Harare to stay with her aunt and she revealed everything to her. On 4 February the aunt brought the girl to Rusape central police and reported the case. The complainant was medically examined at Rusape General Hosipital.
