HOLLYWOOD actor, Tongayi Chirisa, is back home.

The actor, who has starred in multiple American productions, is currently working on a film with locals.

Chirisa, who played the role of Detective Trevor Davies in Studio 263, said he still has his countrymen at heart.

In an interview with H-Metro, Chirisa said he was determined to give back to the community.

“I came home to see my family and also do some scouting. My good friend and filmmaker, Joe Njagu, and I plan to make a film.

“I want to bring quality to the Zimbabwean film industry, and it will be produced in Victoria Falls.

“The film is going to be supported by Zimbabwean actors and I am the executive producer.

“By doing this, I will be giving back to the community and putting my country on the map,” he said.

Chirisa narrated how it means to be recognised internationally and also had a few words for aspiring actors and filmmakers.

“I wish someone had told me that tough times never last and one must keep their eyes on the prize.

“Making a film does not require a lot of money. One can just use their phone and make something.

“I urge people to be patient and work hard because trust me, it pays.

“I urge actors to be consistent in doing what they do best and enrol in film school as it really helps,” he said.

The renowned actor spent last weekend in Victoria Falls.

To date, he has starred in a number of productions comprising Man Friday, Father Nicholas, Black Panther and Mr Bones 2, among others.
