Hotels slash charges

AFRICAN Sun Hotels and Resorts has slashed charges for its hotels in Zimbabwe by up to 70 percent starting this week up to next month in an attempt to increase bookings.

Local travellers will now enjoy cheap accommodation after the hotel group cut charges by margins of between $25 to $125 per room.

The move is part of the conglomerate’s promotional programme for Zimbabweans only that would stretch up to the end of next month.

The period is normally characterised by low business spending as most people would have splashed their money with their loved ones during the Christmas and New Year holidays.

According to a notice issued by the firm yesterday, the new charges are effective starting Tuesday, January 6, 2014 ending February 28.

The Victoria Falls Hotel has reduced accommodation charges to $125 per person sharing in a standard double room compared to last year’s $155 with a deluxe double room now pegged at $145 from $180.

Elephant Hills resort now charges $75 per person sharing in a double room from $100 while a single room is $125 from $170.

Caribbea Bay Resort now charges $60 per person sharing in a standard double from $85 while its single rooms are pegged at $90 from $130.

The luxurious Kingdom Hotel in Victoria Falls now charges $75 per person sharing in a double room from $105 with a single room pegged at $125 from $180.

Troutbeck Resort in Nyanga now costs $70 per person in a single room sharing from $95 while a single room is $105 from $150.

The Crowne Plaza Monomotapa is now $75 per person sharing in a double room from $190 with a single room now costing $125 from $165.

Holiday Inn Harare is now charging $70 per person sharing in a double room from $180 while a single room is now $115 from $155.

Holiday Inn Bulawayo reduced charges to $70 per person sharing in a double room from $180 and its single rooms now cost $115 from $155.

African Sun Amber Hotel Mutare reduced its charges to $65 per person sharing in a double room from $180 while a single room is now $95 from $155.

Beitbridge Express Hotel now costs $35 per person sharing in a double room from $160, while a single room costs $60.

The promotion also extends to the group’s hotels in Nigeria and Ghana.
