Anne Ruthenburg Fashion Diary
HIE there everyone, I hope you are well. I have been so tired since the Easter holiday. I actually feel like I did not have a holiday at all. Oh well, thank God we have three more to go in the next two months yipee!
After two weeks of going on about booty’s and booby’s, I saw a lady walking down Herbert Chitepo Street towards city centre (no not a lady, a woman or a girl because no lady can walk around like that) half naked. She weighed about 300 pounds and had rolls everywhere. She had thin tights on (black ones), and flats on her feet. On her top she had a plain top, but it sat on her waist. That is all she had on. Her (samoosas) sha’nainai was showing in the front and obviously her full granny underwear was showing. Her booty was showing every wear at the back. And she walked slowly down the road to town. I usually take pictures of everything since I am a keen photographer, but I was so shocked at the 300 pound of naked display. I could not even lift my hands to take a picture wena!
Oh well, what to do. My passenger at the time said she probably did not look in the mirror before she left home. I don’t know. I think a nasty man told her she looks good. I have to say to her . . . girlfriend I am all for women loving and appreciating their bodies and I am all for excepting your man’s praises, but at the end of the day, you still need to look in the mirror before you leave home. It is unfair to the rest of the society when you feel like imposing all your portions to the whole world just because nhe!
Someone asked me about oil treatment and whether it helps hair grow. In my opinion, every oil treatment helps hair grow. But it has to be done minimally and correctly. What do I mean? Personally, I do oil treatment once a month and it works well. Like I said, I do it once a month or should I say every 4th week or 5th week. By the way, I wash my hair every five to seven days only. First, I have a sensitive scalp, so washing it more often will leave me with a painful scalp. Also I have very fine hair strands, so the more I mess with my hair, the more it breaks. You just have to find out what works for you. Obviously when my hair is really dirty like if I spend the day in a dusty area, I will come home and wash it straight away, but that is not every day.
So for my oil treatment I use the inversion system because it works for me. First, I do my oil treatment the night before I plan to wash my hair so that the oil has opportunity to sink into my pores overnight. For my oil treatment, I use pure Coconut oil or Castor oil and Olive oil or Amla oil. I have a shower cap and a doek or stocking to sleep in overnight. It is messy, so you want to wrap your head in something that will keep the moisture in, like the cap, but also something that will not let the oil seep through onto the pillow. If however, you do not want to leave it overnight, you can quite easily leave it on for maybe an hour under a cap wrapped in a warm bath towel to keep the moisture and heat in.
This is the routine . . . Because my hair has length I have to use quite a bit of oil each treatment. I normally use a small jar maybe the size of a coffee mug. I put half the coconut oil or castor oil and then the other half is the olive or Amla. You only use two different oils. I simply mentioned 4 because some oils might not work on your hair type. For instance castor oil does not work too well on relaxed hair it is too heavy. But it does work well on natural hair.
Once I mix the two oils of my choice, I shake it well so it infuses. I then make partings in my hair and put the oil everywhere. I put lots of oil, no need to be shy. I always put a towel over my shoulders because in evidently oil spills down onto my clothes. Once the scalp and head are soaked in oil, I tip my head upside down as if I am putting it between my knees and I start massaging for between three and four minutes. If I start getting dizzy, I stop. This is called the inversion method. The massaging helps the blood flow. The heat opens the pores so that the oil enters the scalp and hair follicles. Of course, the oil moisturises the scalp which encourages hair growth.
Once done, I put a shower cap over my entire head. If I want to sleep and then wash it first thing in the morning, I will wrap my hair in a stocking or a doek or some head gear. If I do not have time to wash it in the morning, I will wrap it in a warm bath towel and sit for a few hours, then I will wash it thoroughly.
When you are washing your hair after oil treatment, you must take care because the scalp will be sensitive because of all the massaging. You must shampoo first. Because of the oil, you will probably use a lot more shampoo than you usually do. You might have to shampoo twice. Then finish off with conditioner. I will say when you condition you hair, leave it on for five minutes to do its conditioning before you rinse it all out.
All I can say is that my hair looks awesome every time I do this. It feels soft and looks thicker, yet sleeker. Like I said, you need to find the right oil, but the four I mentioned seem to work with everyone if you follow my advice on which one belongs to what hair type. Once your hair is rinsed clean, it is necessary for you to then use whatever oil or hair moisturiser you normally use on your hair before styling your hair. Hair needs moisture to be able to stay healthy and to grow. So for those of you who do not moisturise your scalp – I am not surprised if you are having hair issues. Your head is a part of your body. If you moisturise your body, you should also be moisturising your head. Of cause not as often, but at least twice a week. The hairline should be moisturised at least 4 times a week.
Also whatever you do, do not over-do it. Oil treatments are not meant to be done all over the head every day. Because what happens is the body gets used to the system and eventually it stops working. Too much of any good thing becomes a bad thing.
Also the inversion method is not good if you are pregnant, or if you suffer from anaemia or any thing that makes your dizzy. But there is nothing wrong with doing the oil treatment without the upside down massaging. If you do have a health issue, just sit on a chair or the bed and massage your head.
Well that’s it from me this week folks. Until next time, be good and God bless!
