Hurungwe Arts Festival organisers have called for applications for the third edition of the festival that has been set for July in Karoi. In a statement the organisers said artists from different disciplines should apply as individuals or groups with a project, artwork or performance for the festival that takes place on July 29 and 30.“Hurungwe Arts Festival invites artists of all disciplines to reflect on the question of the past, present and future, stimulating the imagination in a creative way,” reads the statement.

The arts festival from Mashonaland West has brought life to the province with several artists getting an equal platform to showcase their talent.

Organisers said this year the festival would run under the theme ‘It’s time’.

“Hurungwe Arts Festival aims to showcase artistic and musical expressions outside the usual spaces and conditions to reach out to new audiences.”

In the previous editions there were workshops that covered critical arts topics such as “Arts Management: Professionalising the Arts” and “Using Arts for Communication Development”.

Artists from different parts of the country have benefited from previous editions of the fete with most of them promising to work towards bettering the sector. Venues like Chikangwe Tarven have been used to give the artist’s time to showcase their talent through the festival that has worked to educate the artists in proffesionalisng the sector as well as using their talent for community development.

Such festivals bring in cultural integration within Zimbabwe and beyond.
