A HARARE woman is being accused of abusing a protection order to allegedly bully her husband.
Mercy Hozhere has been accused of emotionally and verbally abusing her husband, Ezekiel Hozhere, and depriving him of his conjugal rights.
This follows a protection order she was granted against him.
Ezekiel accuses Mercy of not doing his laundry and has since applied for a protection order against her.
“My wife was granted a protection order against me in 2018 and she went to stay at her parents’ house for three months, without my consent.
“The protection order made her a hothead because we never agree on anything.
“She has a habit of abusing me verbally and physically.
“She now leaves the house without informing me and, when I ask her, she reports me to the police, claiming I am abusing her and I have to pay a fine.
“She no longer respects me as her husband and she has not been cooking or washing my clothes since 2018.
“She now denies me my conjugal rights,” said Ezekiel.
Mercy, who had legal representation, said she needed time to file a response.
Magistrate Sharon Mashavire postponed the matter to August 5 for a ruling.
