Husband threatens to strike wife with axe over infidelity

A HARARE man attempted to strike his wife with an axe after she bragged about having extramarital affairs as a form of revenge for her husband’s infidelity.

This was revealed during a hearing at the Harare Civil Court where Linda Nyika applied for a peace order against Dzamara Pwitika.

Nyika told the court she was tired of Pwitika’s infidelity, which prompted her to cheat on him.

She also claimed Pwitika has had countless extramarital affairs during the subsistence of their marriage.

“I have suffered emotional and physical abuse at the hands of this cruel man.

“I wanted him to feel the same pain of being cheated and that’s why I disclosed my extramarital affair.

“I don’t care about the marriage anymore,” she said.

In response, Pwitika admitted he attempted to kill his wife with an axe but denied ever engaging in extramarital affairs.

He told the court he was ashamed of his wife’s shenanigans.

“The truth is that Nyika is having an extramarital affair and I feel it’s good if she leaves my house rather than to disrespect me.

“I have grown-up children and what picture will they get with that type of character?” she said.

Presiding magistrate, Sharon Mashavire, granted the peace order in Nyika’s favour.
