Hwange defender joins Chicken Inn

Goalkeeper, Petros Mhari has set his sights on joining FC Platinum so is tough Zambian defender Aaron Katebe who is set to rejoin with their former coach Tennant Chilumba.

“Yes, I will be joining Chicken Inn. Everything has been agreed on and I should start training with them this week,” said Sibelo who has just come back from holiday in South Africa where he was staying with former Hwange midfield general, Ozias Sibanda.

His contract runs out on 31 March and in terms of football statutes, clubs are free to talk to any player with less than six months contract remaining without seeking permission from the club he is playing for.

The 23-year-old Sibelo said his new paymasters have the quality that is needed to land the Castle Lager Premiership title.

Last year, the Innscor Africa sponsored Bulawayo side, under the late Adam “Adamski” Ndlovu, finished a credible third raising belief within their supporters that this year could be their year.

The club is now under former assistant coach Mandla “Lulu” Mpofu, himself a shrewd tactician. Mpofu knows Sibelo all too well, having coached him at Kujatana, a Victoria Falls based former Zifa Southern Region Division One outfit.

“Their late coach Adam wanted me to join them last year and could have done that so my moving there is also in memory of Ndlovu. I know he would have loved to have me this year and my move is really dedicated to him for his belief and trust in me,” said the former Hwange High School pupil.

Chicken Inn secretary, although not revealing names, confirmed that his club would be engaging the services of a defender and also indicated that they were following with keen interest, former Highlanders and FC Platinum captain, Zephania Ngodzo.

Ngodzo was part of eight players controversially offloaded by the Zvishavane based outfit in what is seen as silencing of dissenting voices at the club.

Meanwhile, another offloaded player, tough tackling defender Norman Togara has blasted Tendai Chikuni for offloading him, describing the previously unheralded Chikuni as a church man who knows nothing about football.

In a scathing attack, Togara said they were fired by pastors masquerading as coaches, reminding Chikuni that Zvishavane was not Botswana where Chikuni worked as an assistant coach to Rahman Gumbo.

Asked about his next move, the former Masvingo United defender said he was yet to find a home.

“I am still looking for a club to play for since these people told us late that we have been offloaded,” he said.
