I cheated on her because she lied to me. Dear Tete Barbara

My wife has a child and she thinks that I don’t know. Her cousin told me one day after we had met at a party in Bulawayo after our wedding and I was a bit shocked.

I have never asked her. When I married my wife, it was because I loved her and I still do, but I thought that she would open up one day and tell me the truth, I have two children outside our marriage and I have decided not to tell her also.

We have been married for five years and I feel she is keeping more secrets.

Tete Responds
You are playing a dangerous game my friend that could end up exploding in your face! When you found out that your wife had a child why did you not ask her? Perhaps because you knew it was wrong information or maybe because you have a secret of your own you are not willing to disclose.

You both need to sit down and talk about your positions in your marriage for the fruitful continuation of the union. Living a lie will never be the truth and remember needles have sharp ends, you cannot sit on them and expect to be left unharmed.

You made a mistake too by going out of your marriage and having children. You are putting your health and marriage at risk and never forget that two wrongs don’t make a right.

You need to find a way of telling your wife what you heard and what you have done. If you seek the counsel and guidance of elders and religion, you will find peace and probably save your marriage. It won’t be an easy task but you will survive.
Good Luck!
